When you hear me talk for the first time, you will immediately notice that I have a strong accent. And so I'm used to the question: "Where are you from?" Well, I'm from Switzerland. I have been living in Austin since December 2008. And I love it.
I grew up in Chur, Switzerland, Chur, a city surrounded by mountains (near the village where Heidi once lived), and never thought that I would live in Texas one day. I learned how to swim in Italy, at the magical Lago di Como, where I spent many summers and weekends of my childhood.
I'm married to Richard and we have two sons, Moritz, born in June 2006 and Benjamin, born in November 2012. It was Moritz who inspired me to become a baby swimming teacher. We taught him swimming mostly ourselves - intuitive, gentle and understanding with respect to his initial fears - day by day at our community swimming pool. Only when he knew how to swim, did we choose to send him to a formal swim class.
At about at the same time, I met Kathy and Rob McKay in Boca Raton FL. I immediately liked their approach and signed up for my first instruction week with them with the goal of eventually opening a Swim School based on their philosophy, approach and curriculum.
If you and your child decide to go on this journey and start with me, I would be very honored.
